The Central Valley Saddle Club was started in 1966 and is located just outside of Reedley, California; on Manning Avenue. The facility provides competitive horse events for three disciplines; Western, English and Gymkahna.
The Western Division includes halter classes, riding classes, reining classes and trail classes. The English Division includes in-hand classes, riding classes, and jumping classes. There are two types of jumping classes. One type is judged on style and the horse’s manners; the other type is judged on the ability to jump and clear high fences and is timed. The 3rd Division, Gymkhana, includes Barrel racing, pole bending & single stake. These are all timed events and involve specific patterns around barrels or poles.

Each year the CVSC hosts a wide variety of horse events. Including an annual American Quarter Horse Association circuit show. In addidion, the club also hosts 15-20 horse shows per year for both club memebers and any other individual looking to compete in horse events. Club members are awarded points for placings in each show throught the year and trophies are given for each competing age group; in each riding division at our annual awards banquet. The club also remains active in local parades and hosts trail rides.
Along with the regular events, we also host a Queen competition each year. In 1966 the Central Valley Saddle Club (C.V.S.C.) held its first Queen contest. Each contestant is required to give a speech to club members and judges, they are also judged on their riding ability and appearance; as well as sell raffle tickets and pass a written test.  All points are totaled and the royalty is crowned during the annual AQHA show each year. The winner is given the honor of representing the Saddle Club in parades, rodeos and public appearances during their reign.  This is a long and proud tradition for the Saddle Club. The winner, Irene Tikkanen, was crowned at the Club's annual Quarter horse show in April 1966.

The C.V.S.C. also rents the facility to other equestrian organizations. In recent years the club grounds have hosted Appaloosa Horse shows, Mule shows and Charro rodeos.

Currently the club is self supporting with the help of sponsors and raffle ticket sales at their annual Quarter horse show. One major fund-raiser each year is the fireworks sales. This non-horse related fund-raiser is essential to the survival of the club because often the horse shows produce little or no income. The C.V.S.C. is committed to providing family oriented recreation at the lowest cost to competitors. We believe that if you give people the opportunity to compete in horsemanship, it teaches responsibility and gives them self-esteem. Such opportunity has to remain low cost to enable more individuals to participate.

Although we are by no means a wealthy organization financially, we all share the wealth and knowledge that young people and people of all ages are given the chance to belong to one of the strongest independent, membership owned saddle clubs in the state of California . As members of the Central Valley Saddle Club we have access to one of the best equine facilities in the Valley.
